HIGH POINT, N.C. – A local 911 call center is trying to help drivers stay safe this weekend as the Piedmont braces itself for major storms.

High Point’s 911 call center has put out a list of 11 flood-prone streets and areas for drivers to stay away from.

The list includes both North and South Centennial streets along with North Main Street at Eastchester and Westchester.

Supervisor Tracey Thomas says the list was put together after Tuesday’s rain storm where crews were called out on eight different water rescues.

“People were driving through these streets, didn’t look like it was a lot of water, got into it, and it was a lot of water and their car automatically shuts off,” Thomas said.
